Securing the future

Oliver-Eckel_blog2.jpgSpeaking at the Future of Cyber Security Europe in London on the
16 March, Cognosec’s Oliver Eckel highlighted the rapid advances
in technological development and the rate at which we can regulate them.

During the seminar, entitled Securing the future, Oliver questioned whether legislation and security safeguarding has been able to keep up with the speed of change in technology and explained how the industry can protect itself against upcoming technical developments despite no appropriate legislative frameworks to be expected soon.
He went on to ask what kind of regulations are needed and what we should expect in reality. He also examined data security and the measures, including products and solutions, organizations may they may take.

GDPR: The Little Things That Matter...

Also at the event, attendees joined Cognosec’s board member Neira Jones, FBCS, MSc as she discussed ‘The Little Things That Matter’ in relation to General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

During the well-attended session, Neira examined real trends and hot topics that are not often highlighted when thinking of GDPR whilst clarifying some frequent myths. The presentation comes ahead of GDPR standard enforcement, due to come into action on the 25 May 2018, applying to both data controllers and processors. Neira went on to consider Data Quality, the implications of the e-Privacy directive, Recitals and the increased use of Artificial Intelligence.
