Ahead of hosting two seminars at IP EXPO Manchester on the 26 and 27 April, we interview Cognosec CTO Oliver Eckel about current developments, industry predictions for the next 12 months and his greatest achievement at Cognosec so far...
What industry changes have you witnessed over the past year and how has Cognosec developed to help companies protect and secure themselves?
The industry has moved from the detect and protect space to the respond and recover space. Our customers have expected that breaches can and will happen and that they must do whatever is considered necessary by whatever regulations they are adhering to. It is also business critical that they ensure business continuity should they suffer a breach.
What would your advice be to organizations who’s objective it is to withstand a significant cyber-attack? What should their approach be?
Reduce the attack vector, know exactly what you are protecting and concentrate on risk and business continuity management. A well-defined resiliency programme is critical to sustaining operations during and after a breach.
What are your predictions for the next 12 months and will Cognosec be expanding and developing new solutions to keep pace with technological development?
Due to GDPR and the new SWIFT security requirements on the horizon, managing compliance is becoming more complex by the day. Cognosec, together with its partner RiskVision, is currently working on a SME GDPR managed solution and is developing audit methodologies for the SWIFT security requirements.
Why should an organization/company choose Cognosec?
With Cognosec’s 360 degree approach, we can offer our customers the full security lifecycle which entails Assurance, Advisory, Integration and Operation. Furthermore, our management staff have previously all worked as security experts for various large financial institutions and have an enormous amount of experience.
And finally, what company achievement(s) are you most proud of so far?
Having founded a company that has established itself as expert in information security throughout Europe and that is listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange.
